Glen Burnie is roughly bounded by Brightview Drive and Obrecht Road to the south, Solley Road and Curtis Creek to the east, I-695 to the north and Sawmill Creek and part of I-97 make up the rest of the community to the west. Brooklyn Park and Linthicum Heights border the area to the north, Hanover to the west, Pasadena to the south and Riviera Beach and later Patapsco River to the east.

Most of these plazas and shopping centers offer reliable restaurants like Mission BBQ or Outback Steakhouse, but if you’re looking for something local and more exotic, check out Mutiny Pirate Bar & Island Grille. Located on Marley Avenue, this Caribbean restaurant also offers plenty of seafood options, plus an extensive rum list all served in nautical digs with a deck on a marina. Crabtowne USA is a fantastic restaurant located on Crain Highway South. This veteran spot offers steamed and fried crab, shrimp, fish and features an enormous collection of old-school arcade games.

Glen Burnie offers a few green spaces for recreational activities. One local favorite is the Southgate/Old Mill Park. This fabulous little park offers plenty of amenities and facilities that include 2 baseball fields, a lighted multi-purpose field, 2 basketball courts, 3 tennis courts, paved and nature trails and a playground. Another nice park is Sawmill Creek Park. Located on the western end of the community near the airport, this park is adjacent to its namesake creek and offers an awesome skate park, 4 baseball fields, 3 multi-purpose fields, 2 lighted basketball courts, 6 tennis courts, a playground, picnic areas with a pavilion and a great spot for fishing. Other green spaces in the community include the Elizabeth Road Park and the Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Located on Crain Highway South is the North Arundel Aquatic Center. This wonderful establishment offers an 8-lane 25-yard competition pool and a leisure pool. The leisure pool is a zero depth entry pool with 20-yard lap lanes. The aquatic center also features an indoor water park. The water park includes a 134-foot water slide, splash area, water buckets, preschool water slide, vortex area and a poolside spa for adults. There are also fitness classes and swimming classes for all ages during specific hours of operations.

Traveling Around Glen Burnie

I-695 runs along the northern end of the town and if travelled east will take you across the river. I-97 is a major north-to-south interstate in the area and going southbound will take you as far as Annapolis. Route 2 is another north-to-south route, and if travelled northbound it’s a direct shot to downtown Baltimore. Other routes in the area are Route 10, 100, 648 and 38. The BWI Airport directly borders the neighborhood to the west and features direct rail service to Baltimore and Washington, DC. as well.
