Baltimore City is to the immediate north, Patuxent Research Refuge and the town of Bowie sit to the west, and the communities of Chesapeake Beach and Dunkirk complete the area’s boundaries to the south. Some adjacent counties to Anne Arundel include Calvert County, Kent County, Howard County, Prince George’s County and Queen Anne’s County. The county seat is Annapolis and the largest community is Glen Burnie.

Ego Alley is also in plain sight as this venue serves you a creative, all-day breakfast menu and American comfort food. Blackwall Hitch sits next door and is a more upscale-casual New American restaurant featuring outdoor seating, an on-site pub and stylish decor. Cantler’s Riverside Inn is another riverfront establishment known for their crabs and Maryland-style seafood specialties.
Maryland Live Casino! is also located in the county and is a popular 24/7 destination featuring thousands of slot machines and electronic table games in a classic environment. The venue is adjacent to Arundel Mills which is the largest shopping mall in the state of Maryland. Aside from Maryland Live, the mall features a Dave & Buster’s and an Egyptian-themed 24-screen megaplex theatre along with providing over 200 stores and services. Marley Station Mall is another mall in the county, while further dining and shopping establishments can be found scattered around Anne Arundel.
Enjoying the Great Outdoors in Anne Arundel County
Anne Arundel County is known for boating, fishing, crabbing, water skiing and sailing. Nature lovers can enjoy two state parks, four regional parks and over 100 county community and neighborhood parks. There are also numerous greenways, including the 13-mile Baltimore and Annapolis Trail, enjoyed by thousands of walkers, runners, bicyclists, and equestrians. Other major attractions include the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Annapolis, the Maryland State House and the Colonial Annapolis Historic District.
The Patuxent Research Refuge is the largest green space in Anne Arundel and is a wildlife refuge founded by FDR. Here, biologists study the wildlife that is protected at this national refuge on over 12,000 acres. Sandy Point State Park is located at the end of the Broadneck Peninsula near the west end, and features a beach and marina that is host to many festivals and special events throughout the year. Some of the easternmost portions of the Patapsco Valley State Park are also located in the county and consists of mostly undeveloped areas of forest and wetlands along the lower Patapsco River.
Transportation Around Anne Arundel County
I-695, I-895, Route 32, 50 and 100 are some of Anne Arundel’s key routes. The county is home to BWI Airport, for those looking to get away from it all. Anne Arundel also has multiple stops on the MARC commuter rail service, including a stop at BWI rail station. Additionally, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge crosses the Bay from the county, connecting drivers to the Eastern Shore in Queen Anne’s County.
